- 2 c. water
- 8 oz. dried pinto beans
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. melted bacon fat or vegetable oil
Directions

1Heat water, beans, onion and garlic to boiling in 2-quart saucepan.

2Boil 2 minutes.

3Remove from heat, cover and let stand 1 hour.

4Add just enough water to cover beans and add salt.

5Heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

6(Add water if necessary!)

7When done, mash beans and top with crumbled bacon. Great for burritos or nachos.

8Can be frozen for later.
