- 2 cups pinto beans, dry
- 6 cups water
- 14 lb salt pork, dry
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 18 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil
Directions

1Wash beans and place in water, Soak for several hours.

2Add Sliced salt pork.

3Place on stove top and bring to a boil.

4Lower heat and simmer until beans are tender.

5Mash beans until smooth.

6Add salt, garlic, chili powder, and cooking oil.

7Fry in a heavy frying pan over med heat until mixture is a smooth, thick mass.

8Serve with chips.

9For a zesty dip add 1 jalapeno ,not seeded, chopped fine, and added to the spice mixture.
