Ingredients
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast or 2 cakes yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 6 1/2 to 7 c. flour
Directions

1Soak yeast in warm (not hot) water for 5 minutes.

2Pour milk over sugar and salt in a bowl.

3Stir until dissolved.

4Beat in eggs, shortening, 1 cup flour and yeast mixture.

5Add remaining flour to make a soft dough.

6When dough leaves sides of bowl, turn onto a floured board.

7Knead until becomes smooth and elastic. Place in lightly greased bowl and grease top of dough.

8Cover with wax paper and a damp cloth.

9Place in refrigerator immediately. Punch down as it rises; also keep cloth damp.

10Shape dough directly from refrigerator into the number of rolls.

11Place on greased baking sheet.

12Cover; let rise in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours. Bake at 375° for 15 to 20 minutes.

13Makes 4 dozen rolls.
