  • 1 cake compressed yeast or 1 dry yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
  • 1 c. hot potato water or hot milk
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 c. sifted all-purpose flour

    Combine hot potato water or milk

    shortening, sugar and salt.

    Stir until shortening is

    melted and sugar and salt are dissolved.

    add well beaten eggs and dissolved yeast; mix thoroughly. Add about 1/2 of the flour and beat mixture well.
