- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening (combine part butter or margarine)
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 c. diced rhubarb (can get chopped frozen)
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening; add egg and beat well.

2Mix flour, salt and soda together and add alternately to creamed mixture with milk.

3Stir in rhubarb.

4Pour into 9 x 13-inch greased and floured cake pan.
