- 3 to 4 apples per layer, peeled and sliced (for 3 layers, use 9 to 12 apples)
- 1 1/2 c. raw rice, rinsed and drained
- 2 1/4 c. milk
- 1 egg yolk
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- butter
Directions

1In pot, cover rice with water; bring to boil.

2Add milk; boil 10 minutes.

3Cover and let stand 15 minutes.

4Butter casserole dish.

5Mix egg yolk with sugar.

6Stir into rice.

7Alternate layers starting with rice and then apples into casserole dish.

8Top layer must be rice.

9Top with bits of butter.

10Bake, covered, in oven at 325° for 45 minutes.

11Turn off oven; let stand in oven 1 hour. Serve with a sprinkling of granulated sugar.
