Ingredients

  • 4 c. plain flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/4 c. water (warm)
  • 3/4 c. sweet milk
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk

Directions

    Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl.

    Mix with shortening. Add yeast and milk.

    Mix like biscuits.

    Knead, then place in greased bowl in refrigerator for at least two hours to chill. Roll like biscuits.

    Grease the top of each and place one on top of another and crimp.

    Let rise and bake in 425° oven.

    These can be made up the night before if you wish.
