- 1 (12 to 14 lb.) turkey
- melted butter, margarine or vegetable oil
- salt
Directions

1Remove giblets and rinse turkey thoroughly with cold water; pat dry.

2Sprinkle cavity with salt.

3Tie ends of legs to tail with cord or string or tuck them under flap of skin around tail.

4Lift wingtips up and over back so they are tucked under bird.

5Brush entire bird with melted butter.

6Place on a roasting rack, breast side up.

7Insert meat thermometer in breast or meat part of thigh, making sure it does not touch bone.

8Bake at 325° until meat thermometer reaches 185° (about 4 1/2 to 5 hours).
