Directions

1Remove the outer leaves from a head of garlic.

2Separate the cloves, being careful not to break or remove the skin of the clove.

3Slice the root tip off each clove.

4Place cloves in a small oven-proof dish.

5Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the cloves.

6Cover and place in oven to bake at 350F for 30 to 40 minutes.

7Remove from oven; spread cloves on a plate and allow to cool for a few minutes.

8Squeeze the meat of each clove out into a small dish.

9Add a bit of olive oil; mash the garlic with a fork and blend in such spices as pepper, salt, basil, and parmesan or romano cheese.
