  • 1 1/2 c. milk, scalded
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 3 qt. flour
  • 1 cake yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water and 1 Tbsp. sugar

    Scald milk.

    Add butter, sugar and salt.

    Allow to cool.

    Add water, eggs, yeast and flour, 1 quart at a time.

    Knead; allow to rise to double in size.

    Push down; allow to rise again.
