Ingredients

  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cakes yeast or 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 6 1/2 to 7 c. flour (enough to make soft dough)

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Add the remaining ingredients and work in flour until you have a soft dough.

    Roll out into desired shapes.

    Let rise until double and bake in a hot oven or let rise and bake them in a 300° oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until just good and firm, not brown. Then store them in freezer for later use.
