  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 3/4 c. Crisco (butter flavor)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 c. plus self-rising flour

Directions

    Add dry yeast to warm water.

    Add sugar and egg to yeast and water; add Crisco and flour.

    Mix until smooth.

    Turn into large bowl.

    Cover tightly.

    Refrigerate 12 hours.

    Take out and knead lightly.

    Pat out 1-inch thick and cut out.

    Place on buttered pan and butter top.

    Let rise at room temperature about 1 hour.

    Bake at 500° for 12 to 15 minutes until brown.
