Rum Sundae Sauce

  • 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 1/3 c. light corn syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. rum extract

Directions

    Combine first 5 ingredients in a saucepan; cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.

    Reduce heat to low; cook, without stirring, until a candy thermometer reaches 230°.

    Remove from heat, and cool slightly.

    Stir in rum extract.

    Serve over ice cream.

    Yields 1 cup.
