Ingredients
- 3 medium onions
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 lb. hamburger
- 1 (1 lb. 3 oz.) can tomatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 medium onion
- 1 apple
- 1/3 c. lemon juice (frozen or canned)
- 1/4 c. sugar
Directions

1Chop onions coarsely.

2Melt fat in heavy kettle; toss in onion and hamburger.

3Cook over high fire until meat is brown.

4Stir in tomatoes, salt and pepper.

5Cover and cook slowly 20 minutes. Shred cabbage.

6Pare and chop apple fine.

7Stir cabbage, apple, lemon juice and sugar in with hamburger.

8Cover and cook gently for about 40 minutes.

9Serves 6 generously.
