- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cloves
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar.

2Add egg and molasses.

3Blend well.

4Add sifted dry ingredients.

5Mix well and chill.

6Roll small amount at a time to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface and cut into circles or roll into small balls and flatten to 1/4-inch with the bottom of a glass.

7Bake at 360° for 10 minutes. Dough can be frozen and baked later.
