- 2 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. molasses
- 2 1/2 c. beer
- 1/3 c. liquid shortening
- 5 c. white flour
- 4 c. rye flour
- 1 Tbsp. salt
Directions

1Heat beer to lukewarm.

2Add salt, shortening and molasses.

3Mix both kinds of flour together.

4Make a hole in middle and pour in liquid mixture.

5Let raise until double in size.

6Knead and let rise again.

7Makes 3 large loaves.

8Bake 40 to 45 minutes.
