- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/4 c. lard
- 2 tsp. caraway seed
- 2 tsp. anise seed
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 1/2 c. sifted rye flour
- 3 1/2 c. white flour
Directions

1Combine yeast and warm water; set aside.

2Combine next 6 ingredients and then add hot water; cool to lukewarm.

3Mix in rye flour.

4Add yeast mixture.

5Add white flour.

6Knead dough 10 minutes.

7Let rise until double.

8Punch and let rise again.

9Form into 2 loaves and place in greased loaf pans.

10Let rise.

11Bake in a 375° oven for 25 to 35 minutes.
