- 2 cakes yeast
- 2 c. scalded milk
- 3/4 c. mild molasses
- 3/4 c. shortening
- white flour
- 1 c. warm water
- 3 c. warm water
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 5 c. rye flour
Directions

1In a bowl, dissolve yeast 1 cup warm water.

2Mix in milk, molasses, 3 cups warm water and sugar.

3Mix well.

4Blend in shortening.

5Add dry ingredients.

6Mix in. Add enough white flour to make a sticky dough. Cover and let rise until doubled in size. Divide dough into fifths.

7Place each into greased loaf tin and allow to rise again.

8Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 30 minutes.

9Makes 5 loaves.
