  • 2 lb. ground beef (round or chuck)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • 6 crackers, soaked in milk to cover

Directions

    Mix all ingredients and shape into oblong thin patties.

    Brown on both sides in skillet.

    Remove meat and add 1 heaping tablespoonful flour to fat and brown.

    Add enough water to make thin gravy.

    Pour over steaks in a casserole dish or Dutch oven and bake at 350° until meat is tender and gravy is rich and thick.
