- 1 1/2 lb. fresh tomatoes (stems removed)
- 1/2 large onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 chili
- 1/2 c. fresh cilantro leaves, loosely packed
- juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder (add more or less to taste)
Directions

1Chop tomatoes and onion.

2Peel garlic and chop.

3Remove stem and seeds from chili and chop.

4Place tomatoes, onion, garlic, chili and cilantro in blender or food processor container.

5Blend or chop until desired consistency is reached.

6Place mixture in bowl and add lime juice, sugar and chili powder.

7Stir until well blended.

8Serve with tortilla chips, wedges of baked fresh tortillas, as a sauce for cold or hot foods, as a topping for baked potatoes, or as a dressing for salad.
