- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 6 to 8 c. flour
Directions

1Cream 1/2 cup sugar, shortening, egg and salt.

2Put yeast, 1/2 tablespoon sugar and warm water in big bowl and let stand for 20 minutes.

3To yeast mixture, add 2 cups warm water and mix well. Then add first mixture.

4Mix together and add 6 to 8 cups flour. Knead well.

5Put in greased bowl.

6Let rise until double in bulk. Knead again and put into loaf or 6 coffee cans.

7Let rise.

8Pour cans 1/3 full.

9Grease cans or loaf pans.

10Bake at 375°.
