- 3 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. baking cocoa
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/3 c. sour cream
- 1 1/3 c. boiling water
Directions

1In a mixing bowl, cream brown sugar and butter.

2Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Beat on high speed until light and fluffy.

4Blend in vanilla.

5Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add alternately with sour cream to creamed mixture.

6Mix on low just until combined.

7Stir in water until blended. Pour into three greased and floured 9-inch round baking pans.

8Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.

9Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool completely.
