Sausage Bread

  • 2 loaves bread dough (homemade or store bought)
  • 1 lb. sausage
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 8 oz. sliced mushrooms
  • 2 c. Mozzarella cheese

Directions

    Let bread dough rise.

    Fry sausage completely and drain off fat.

    Set aside.

    Saute mushrooms, green pepper and onion until tender.

    Turn burner off; stir in cheese.

    Add sausage; stir until cheese is melted.

    Roll out dough.

    Put half of sausage mixture in middle.

    Fold one side, then other.

    Brush dough with egg whites. Repeat with other dough.

    Bake in bread pans at 350° for 30 minutes.

    Can also be made with cold meats and other cheeses. Let cool, then slice.
