  • 1 (1 lb.) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1 lb. bulk sausage (tested with Jimmy Dean sage-flavored sausage)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 c. chopped fresh mushrooms
  • 1 c. grated Cheddar cheese (4 oz.)
  • 1 c. grated Mozzarella
  • 1 beaten egg

    Let bread thaw and rise according to package directions.

    In a medium size skillet, brown sausage, onion, bell pepper and mushrooms; drain the liquid.

    Roll bread dough flat on floured surface with floured rolling pin.

    Place on a slightly greased cookie sheet.

    Spread half the sausage mixture down center of dough.

    Sprinkle half the cheeses over mixture; repeat.

    Fold dough over and tuck in ends.

    Brush with beaten egg.

    Bake at 375° until brown, about 30 minutes.
