Ingredients

  • 1 qt. water
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 large can tomatoes
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 1 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1 large jar navy beans and liquid
  • 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb. hot sausage, fried and drained (1 lb. mild and 1 lb. hot)
  • 2 large potatoes
  • 1/2 green pepper

Directions

    Combine first 10 ingredients and bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.

    Dice potatoes and green pepper, add to chowder and cook for 30 minutes.
