  • 1 lb penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb mild sausage
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 12 cups chicken broth
  • 18 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 lb broccoli floret
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 12 cups finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper

    Cook pasta according to package.

    Meanwhile, in a large saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil.

    Add sausage, crumbling and cooking until browned.

    Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

    Add the broth and red pepper and bring to a boil.

    Add the broccoli, cover, and cook until tender (do not overcook, or you'll end up with mush).

    Stir in the butter and cheese then cook until the sauce thickens a little (2 minutes or so).

    Add it to the drained pasta, mix, season with salt/pepper.
