Sausage Rice

  • 1 lb. bulk hot sausage
  • 1 c. long grain rice
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 1 c. celery, chopped
  • 1 c. carrots, sliced
  • 1 tsp. fennel seed
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 c. slivered almonds, toasted
  • 1 (14 oz.) can chicken bouillon (undiluted)

Directions

    Break up sausage; brown and drain well.

    Mix with next 8 ingredients; place in casserole.

    (At this point, it may be refrigerated for a day.)

    When ready to bake, add bouillon. Bake, covered, for 1 1/4 hours at 350°.

    Serves 6 to 8 as side dish.
