Sauteed Asparagus

- 1 lb. fresh asparagus or 1 (8 to 10 oz.) pkg. frozen asparagus spears
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- dash of salt
- dash of pepper
Directions

1If using fresh asparagus, wash and trim the bottoms.

2Cut fresh or frozen asparagus in 1/2-inch diagonal slices.

3Melt shortening in a large skillet.

4Saute asparagus over moderate heat about 5 minutes, tossing frequently.

5Add lemon juice, salt and pepper to asparagus in skillet.

6Toss lightly.

7Serve hot.

8Makes 3 or 4 servings.
