Savory Chicken Pie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. pork sausage
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 10 pkg. frozen peas and carrots
  • 13 oz. can chicken broth or 1 3/4 c. chicken broth
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 2 c. cubed chicken

    In a saucepan brown sausage and drain on paper towels.

    Pour off fat.

    In same pan, melt butter and blend in flour and salt. Cook until thickened.

    (I use more broth to make gravy thinner and more of it.)

    Add sausage, chicken and peas.

    Heat through.

    Pour into baking dish and top with pastry.

    Bake at 425° for 25 to 30 minutes.
