- 1 head red cabbage
- 1 c. finely chopped onions
- 2 large apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 c. red wine vinegar
- 6 Tbsp. light brown sugar
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 c. dry white wine
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
Directions

1In large kettle, saute onion in butter until soft.

2Add cabbage; cook over low heat, stirring often, for 10 minutes.

3Add the apples, wine, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper; mix well. Cover kettle; lower heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring several times.

4Uncover kettle; raise heat.

5Cook until all liquid is absorbed.

6Pour into large serving bowl.

7Makes 8 servings.
