- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cans (15 oz.) tomato sauce
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 Tbsp. minced fresh basil or 1 tsp. dry basil
- 2 tsp. minced fresh oregano or 3/4 tsp. dry oregano
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
- hot cooked spaghetti
Directions

1In a Dutch oven, cook ground beef and onion until meat is brown and onion is tender; drain.

2Add the next 8 ingredients; bring to a boil.

3Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

4Remove the bay leaf.

5Serve over spaghetti.
