- 1 c. cornmeal
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. shortening or cooking oil
- boiling water
- 1 egg
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients.

2Put oil or shortening in heavy skillet on top of stove.

3Get real hot.

4Pour boiling water over meat mixture until soupy; stir well.

5Add egg; beat well.

6Pour in hot grease.

7Let cook on top of stove until several air bubbles are in bread.

8Put in a 450° oven; bake until lightly browned on top.
