- small head of cabbage, cut up
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 sticks of butter
- flour
- milk
- 3/4 lb. American cheese
- 1/4 lb. saltine cracker crumbs
Directions

1Cook cabbage until done, drain.

2Melt 1 stick of butter and add a little flour as though making gravy.

3Cook just until flour and butter is well blended.

4Stir in enough milk to make a thin sauce.

5Bring to a boil and add cheese.

6Stir until cheese is melted.

7Use a baking dish and layer 1/2 of cabbage then 1/2 sauce.

8Repeat layers.

9Melt stick of butter and stir in cracker crumbs.

10Sprinkle on top of casserole and bake until crackers are brown.
