- 1/2 c. egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. almond flavor
Directions

1Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar and vinegar until stiff.

2Add sugar very gradually, a teaspoon at a time.

3Beat until mixture holds a stiff peak.

4Add flavorings.

5Cover baking sheet with brown paper.

6Shape mixture with a spoon into uniform mounds.

7Makes 8 small or 6 large meringues.

8Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

9Bake at 225° for about 1 hour.

10Remove from baking sheet.

11Cool.

12Serve with fresh fruit topping and ice cream.
