- 4 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2/3 c. butter
- 1 1/3 c. half and half
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 c. golden raisins (optional)
Directions

1Heat oven to 425°.

2Grease large baking sheet.

3Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cream of tartar; blend with pastry cutter.

4Beat half and half and egg; reserve 2 tablespoons.

5Add to dry ingredients.

6Form soft dough.

7Knead 4 or 6 times and divide in half.

8Roll half into 8-inch round and cut into 4 wedges.

9Do second half.
-
10Pierce tops of scones with fork.

11Brush with reserved egg mix.

12Bake 15 to 18 minutes.
