  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 lb. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • sprinkle of salt and nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1 lb. chopped almonds (optional)

Directions

    Cream sugar and margarine.

    Add other ingredients.

    Form into balls and pat flat about 1/2-inch thick.

    Bake slowly at 300° about 1 hour until pale tan in color.

    While warm, sprinkle with confectioners sugar.

    Store in tins.

    They are better when aged.
