Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar (heaping)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or bacon fat
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • buttermilk

Directions

    Mix dry ingredients and butter (or bacon fat) until crumbly. Add beaten egg and enough buttermilk to make gooey biscuit dough. Pat 1/2-inch thick on well floured board; cut with knife or biscuit cutter.

    Cook on low on heated griddle; turn when slightly browned.

    Or bake on cookie sheet at 350° until light brown. Clean pan between bakings.
