  • 4 egg whites
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. white Karo
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 6 Tbsp. powdered sugar

Directions

    In a saucepan, put sugar, water, Karo and salt; boil until 215° on candy thermometer.

    Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff, adding cream of tartar to keep stiff.

    When sugar mixture is ready, add egg whites to it and beat for 5 minutes; adding powdered sugar in the first 3 minutes.

    Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper. Set until cold.

    Yields 60 to 80 pieces.
