- 3 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 eggs
- 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
Directions

1Combine sugar, water and cream of tartar.

2Cover and boil 5 minutes.

3Uncover, wipe sides of saucepan with a damp cloth.

4Boil without stirring to firm ball stage (245° to 248°).

5Pour slowly, stirring constantly, over stiffly beaten egg whites.

6Add flavoring.

7Continue beating until candy holds its shape when dropped from a spoon.

8Drop teaspoonful onto waxed paper. Sprinkle with nuts.
