- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. dark Karo syrup
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 2 pkg. (24 oz.) chocolate chips
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1In a heavy saucepan combine sugar, syrup and vinegar.

2Bring to the boil over high heat.

3Reduce to low heat and cook slowly until temperature reaches 300°.

4Remove from heat.

5Add baking soda while stirring.

6Pour into a greased 8 x 8-inch pan.

7Cool. Break into small pieces.

8Melt chocolate chips with shortening. Dip candy pieces in chocolate mixture.
