  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. water
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 unbeaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

    Mix flour and sugar.

    Mix margarine, shortening, water and cocoa in a pan; let come to a boil.

    Pour over flour and sugar mixture.

    Beat buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, soda and salt.

    Add to mixture and mix well.

    Bake 20 minutes at 400°.
