  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. plain flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. water
  • 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 unbeaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Mix the sugar and flour together. In boiler, place the margarine, shortening, water and cocoa and bring to a boil. Pour this hot mixture over the sugar and flour and blend well. Add the buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, soda and salt. Mix well. (Batter will be thin.) Pour into 11 x 16 x 2-inch pan and bake at 400° for 20 minutes only.
