- 1 lb. dry navy beans, soaked
- 1 or 2 ham hocks
- 3 qt. water
- 1 large chopped onion
- 3 or 4 pieces chopped celery (with leaves)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 c. chopped parsley
Directions

1Simmer beans and ham in water for 2 hours.

2Add remaining ingredients and cook at least 1 more hour.

3Take meat off ham bones; dice and add to soup.

4Season to taste.

5Mash beans slightly to thicken or can add some instant mashed potatoes.
