Ingredients

  • 3 c. white vinegar
  • 1/3 c. salt minus 1 Tbsp.
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp. powdered alum (a must)
  • 3 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. mustard seed
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 gal. unpeeled cukes, sliced

Directions

    Stir all ingredients until dissolved.

    Slice 1 gallon unpeeled cukes and pack solid in a gallon glass jar.

    Pour brine over cukes.

    Set out at room temperature and shake 3 to 4 times a day for 3 days.

    After 3 days, place in refrigerator.

    Will keep for weeks.
