- 1 pie crust (homemade or store bought)
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (I use extra)
- 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp unbleached all purpose flour
- 1 ground nutmeg to taste
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450F.

2Mix the brown sugar, butter, and flour in a small bowl until well blended.

3Spread in the bottom of the pie shell.

4Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the heavy cream, vanilla, and egg until well blended.

5Pour over the brown sugar mixture.

6Sprinkle with nutmeg.

7Bake for 10 minutes.

8Reduce the oven temperature to 350F.

9Bake for 25 to 30 minutes longer, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

10Cool for at least 1 hour at room temperature.

11Refrigerate until serving.
