- 1/3 c. butter
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/3 c. water
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 6 large ripe peaches, peeled
- 1/2 c. sherry
Directions

1Melt butter and sugar.

2Add water, lemon juice and sliced peaches.

3Poach peaches slowly and baste them frequently with syrup.

4Cook until fruit is still firm but cooked through (5 minutes).

5Add sherry at the end. Serve hot with meat or warm with cream for dessert. You may substitute apples, pears, canned pineapple or cherries for the peaches.
