- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. white corn syrup
- 2/3 c. water
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- pecan halves
Directions

1In a saucepan, combine sugar, salt, corn syrup and water.

2Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.

3Bring to a boil.

4Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry.

5When syrup mixture reaches 230° on candy thermometer, pour slowly over egg whites, beating constantly until the mixture begins to lose its gloss and holds its shape.

6Add vanilla and working quickly, drop by teaspoon on waxed paper.

7Top immediately with a pecan half. Yields 4 dozen.
