Shichimi Edamame

  • 1 pound edamame beans, shelled
  • 1 tablespoon dried red pepper flakes
  • 4 teaspoons dried orange peel
  • 2 teaspoons flax seeds
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sichuan peppercorns
  • 1/4 teaspoon lavender

Directions

    Warm up the beans in boiling water if you want to serve them warm. Be careful not to cook them - you just want to warm them up. This is optional, as they can be served cold as well.

    Combine all the spices in a spice grinder and grind to almost a powder. You want to see the individual spices when you sprinkle the powder on the beans.

    Put the beans in a bowl or on a plate and sprinkle some of the shichimi over them. Go enjoy the movie!
