- 4 c. flour
- 2 c. light brown sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. boiling water
- 2/3 c. King syrup
- 1/3 c. Brer Rabbit dark syrup
- 2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Mix well flour and brown sugar.

2Add shortening and blend. Reserve 2 cups for topping.

3Mix in pan boiling water and both syrups, then add baking soda.

4Add liquid mixture to crumb mixture.

5Blend and pour through sieve to blend.

6Pour batter in pan.

7Sprinkle with crumb topping.

8Bake at 350° in a 9 x 12-inch pan for 55 minutes, cupcakes for 35 minutes.
