Ingredients

  • 2 unbaked pie shells
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 c. regular King syrup
  • 1 1/2 c. hot water from sink
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. hot water

Directions

    Mix flour, sugar and shortening like pie dough crumbs.

    Take out 2 cups of crumbs for top of pies.

    To remainder of crumbs in bowl, add eggs, molasses and water.

    Dissolve soda in 1/2 cup of hot water and add to other liquid mixture.

    Divide liquid in unbaked pie shells.

    Put crumbs on top and bake 10 minutes at 400°.

    Reduce to 375° and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

    Makes 2 pies.
